“Silence After the Blast: What Isn’t Sweden’s Military Telling Us?”

Five victims in intensive care after possible explosion during the disposal of unexploded ordnance in Sweden

At least seven people were injured in an incident at a military training ground in Sweden. The authorities assume it was an accident, the Swedish armed forces report. This was in my newspaper this morning when I opened it to read. According to a military spokesperson, the accident took place late in the afternoon. He did not go into detail about exactly what happened — why not? Why didn’t this military spokesperson go into detail, I wonder? Doesn’t every self-respecting person have a right to the truth — is this about some new, unknown weapon, or was another stupid mistake made?

Are military incidents on the rise?

These reports startle me every single time. You and I can of course imagine what’s really going on here. Tensions in the world keep rising, but then why “He did not go into detail about exactly what happened” as an explanation? As the public — who may well have to be defended by whoever caused this — don’t we have a right to the truth behind this “incident” in Sweden? Of course I understand that if you have to learn how to defend your continent, you need to recruit a lot of people, who then have to be trained, and that takes effort, “you can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs.” But just admit that!

Sweden is not alone in this

The Netherlands has its own broken eggs too. On April 29 of this year, an incident was caused by a military exercise with explosives. Are we still living in a safe world? Aren’t we already defeated before a war has even broken out, or can we even withstand the pressure that other parts of the world are already putting on us? This week I already wrote about the huge Russian base at the North Pole. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump calmly keeps talking with Vladimir Putin, embarrassing Europe more and more.

Covid and dependence on the USA — where were our politicians?

Where were the people who are supposed to protect us, the people in neat suits sitting on the velvet cushions of the various European governments, who were supposed to watch over us as citizens? Where were the military intelligence services, or the intelligence agencies of all the European powers? Were they quietly snickering at the supposed stupidity of the, in their eyes, dumb Americans, who opened their wallets anyway? Or did that comfort feel so good that they were slowly lulled to sleep? Just look at how countries like the Netherlands, and Germany too, are being led right now — it’s as if both countries are currently being steered by a kindergarten class.

Is Germany about to become an anteroom for Russia?

Look at the current politics in Germany — the country is in a severe crisis due to a historic surge by the radical-right “Alternative für Deutschland”https://flint-global.com/blog/state-and-local-elections-in-2026-a-super-election-year-with-national-implications/ — better known as the AfD. This party is currently (2026) racking up one victory after another in the regional elections of the so-called “Superwahljahr” (super election year). This is putting the German federal government and the position of the current chancellor Friedrich Merz, from the German political party the CDU under heavy pressure. Does denial still help, or looking the other way, as most European leaders seem so eager to do in my eyes? But then again, for them the bet is clear: “it’ll last my lifetime.” These people are currently shovelling far too much money into their already overstuffed wallets — money from gullible European citizens, who matter less and less to their vote at national elections anyway, since forming these national governments is increasingly about coalitions.

Who’s actually keeping an eye on these money-grabbers?

Who still believes in these money-grabbers anyway? Because most people would rather watch Netflix than their national broadcasters. They have no idea about the politics of their own country, and as for voting — “what’s that?” Just look at the turnout in the last elections in your country. This isn’t about you personally, but could it perhaps have something to do with the latest version of the “Tower of Babel?” You know, that bit of “history from that big book that everyone in the world calls by a different name. To me, it’s about working together — and if we no longer want that, we may no longer be able to understand one another afterward. Because do we still understand each other in Europe, and do we still share the same interests and mission? Given the migration of so many peoples, do we still stand a chance, or have Europe’s current politicians failed to notice that the movement of so many peoples in our world is also shifting political thinking in the various countries? Are we still who we think we are?

Can the military still save us, or has the training become far too demanding?

Isn’t there already a far too large abscess in “our” Europe? Can a proper defence even still be organised? Aren’t the people of Europe simply fed up with these money-guzzling politicians and senior military officials? Aren’t we as citizens being woken up far too late from the winter sleep that the predecessors of today’s politicians once lulled us into? To me, the current situation looks a lot like the period around 1800 AD, when people suddenly discovered that they too were capable of thinking for themselves. Those people no longer want all these needless wars; they want peace, and perhaps different leaders — not rulers, but leaders they can trust. Leaders who are honest and open about their actions, who don’t needlessly kill people to play their power games. Leaders who are loved by the people, who have “fans” who want to see and follow them — maybe it will be the downfall of Netflix, but no unnecessary money will be given away, so that the poor among us also get a real chance again.
